Medieval Dinner

Last night I enjoyed a seven course dinner with some of my closest friends. We try to get together once a month a cook dinner. We wanted to try something unique and Catie has a medieval cookbook so we decided to give it a try. Catie made most of the meal before hand (she is an awesome cook). Let me tell you, it was amazing, and the best part was eating with our hands! Here was our menu.

First Course
*Claret & fresh fruit

Second Course
*Sautéed Chicken & mushrooms with spices
*Roast onion salad

Third Course
*Roast shoulder of land with pancetta
*Green sauce
*Pink garlic sauce

Fourth Course
*An Italian blancmange from foreign parts

Fifth Course (Dessert)
*Whole pear pie
*Almond pudding

Sixth Course (Issue De Table)
*Apple Kelly candies

Seventh Course
*Anise seeds

We had quite a fun Easter. We left church early to go to Aunt Sharon's house, where we enjoyed Easter ham and devilled eggs and visiting with the family.

The kids had an Easter egg hunt and Tyler didn't know what to do. He was afraid of where we were asking him to look and so we had to put the eggs in the grass to get him to take them. He was more enthusiastic when he found the candy inside!

We then visited with Grandma Charlotte and Tyler had a good time petting her dog Charlie.

Then we went to mom and dad Hobbs' house for some grilled steak, corn, asparagus, hot dogs, and salad and brownies. We played bocchi ball and the kids had another easter hunt! This time Tyler was more into it, and he stuffed the contents of an egg or two completely into his mouth.

Can't believe how much our baby boy is growing up! Such a blessing to have family so close to spend holidays with. We re going to mis that when we move
