Disneyland!

Last week we accomplished an item on my bucket list. This trip was taken by my family as a memorial to my mom.

Wednesday morning we took off on Southwest Airlines and Tyler was well-behaved for the first half of the flight. Southwest gives drinks and snacks, so that made things easier. We took a cab from the SNAP airport to our hotel, the Travelodge.

They gave us a bad room at first, but replaced it with a nice one near the front. Our friends Scot and Kelli drove up from San Diego to have dinner with us at the Rainforest Cafe in downtown Disney. we had nachos, assorted appetizers, I had a burger and a fruity drink. It was so great to see our old friends. We really missed them, and it was fun taking pictures, exploring shops, and hanging out with them!

Thursday we spent all day in the California Adventure Park. We started at the Hollywood Tower, then went to the Bug's Life area, followed by the Grizzly River Run (this was my favorite ride!). We took pictures with Minnie and saw the Minnie's Fly Girls show while my brothers and dad "soared over California". We had lunch in the Paradise Pier area, then went on Mickey's Fun Wheel (the ferris wheel) and Jacob and my brothers went on the California Screamin' roller coaster (Jacob went twice -- it was his favorite), while Tyler, my dad and I went a few times on Ariel's Undersea Adventure.

We then explored Cars Land -- Tyler got see Lightning McQueen and LOVED it! We got him a souvenir McQueen car filled with popcorn and then got nice Mezzanine seats for the Aladdin Musical. It was definitely worth seeing, and the popcorn kept Tyler quiet. After that we did the Toy Story Mania ride, and then the Synphony Swings and Goofy's Sky School. Jacob and Justin took off for the Radiator Springs Racers while the rest of us did the Grizzly River Run. After this the park was closed, so we saw part of the World of Color show, and then Jacob bought me some comfy sweat pants and we went home. It took forever to order dinner that night, but we got some good Chinese food at around 1 am.

Friday we went to the Disneyland side, and we all got pictures with Belle! Tyler and I got a picture with Goofy next, but Mickey wasn't available. The first thing we did at Disneyland was the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (my favorite!), and then the Haunted Mansion. We then went on the Jungle Cruise, saw Princess Jasmine, followed by the Indiana Jones Adventure, and then we went on Splash Mountain (my other favorite!). My brothers and I did it twice!

After that, Jacob and I headed to downtown disney, where Jacob and Tyler shared a peanut butter banana crepe, and we then took Tyler back to the hotel to nap. But, he had already napped, so Jacob napped instead! After that, we went to Tortilla Jo's for lunch (fajitas and carnitas), and back to Disneyland. We went through the Sleeping Beauty Castle and then It's A Small World (Tyler's favorite -- he couldn't get enough of the smiling little people and music!), and then I got Disney Princess coins and went on the Dumbo and Storybook Land rides with Tyler and my dad while Jacob and my brothers did the Star Tours ride.

I lost my Minnie Mouse ears, but we found a Lightning McQueen toy for Tyler, so that worked out. We watched part of Fantasmic and then everyone but my brothers headed back into downtown disney, and I picked up my Letter Brush Art order of our last name, and Jacob got a large bag of caramel corn, and we turned in for the night.

Saturday morning we did the magic morning, and went on the Matterhorn bobsleds and Alice in Wonderland rides. Jacob and my brothers went on Space Mountain, while the rest of us went on the Finding Nemo Submarine ride. We all went on Peter Pan's flight, and then Jacob, Tyler and I saw the Disney Princesses (Cinderella, Ariel, and Aurora), while the rest went on Space Mountain again. We changed Tyler and got to see Mary Poppins, and then all headed to Toon Town. We saw Mickey, and took the train to the main gate, where we went downtown and had the best (and cheapest!) meal yet, at Earl of Sandwich.

From there we went to the various shops and got souvenirs, and Jacob took them back to the hotel for us while we went on the Mark Twain Riverboat. Jacob went on it with me a second time while my brothers and dad went on the star tours ride. We watched a mini Beauty and the Beast play at the Fantasy Faire, and then got Tyler some pizza at the Red Rockett's Pizza Port. We went on the Autopia ride (Tyler didn't like it as much as we thought he would), and then did Pinnochio's Daring Journey. We left my brothers again to go to the hotel, taking the monorail this time and seeing fireworks while we waited. We bought a print from the WonderGround Gallery of Beauty and the Beast, and then Jacob and I left Tyler with my dad, and returned to Disneyland for the Finding Nemo ride and  one last go at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Jeremy, Jacob and I looked for a place to get some Tapas, and ended up at a place called Tacos Mi Pueblo, where their fries with Carne Adovada was probably the best Mexican food we'd ever had. So good! We had to pay cash since they charge for using a card.

Sunday morning our flight was delayed at the LAX, so I had a burger at the LA Roadhouse while we waited. The flight was awful for Tyler (he was tired and hungry the whole time), and we were glad to finally be home that evening!
